On the home front - garden update
It’s already been three weeks since the last update!
I’ve hardly spent any time over there at all - but it keeps growing anyway!
Thankfully we’ve been getting rain somewhat regularly and it hasn’t been scorching hot so I’ve not needed to water as much as before. This week is predicted to get hot, though, so I’m going to be careful about watering - both the corn and the pumpkins.
But, the corn and pumpkins have been growing like weeks.
Weeds have also been growing!
I had to spend quite a bit of weeding just to I could take some pictures. I still am not caught up with the weeding though - I did spend an hour and half out there this morning removing them - at least pulling them up. They have been steadily growing all while I was making the beige quilt, going to the Ukraine, etc. :)
My corn stands chest high now and some of my pumpkins have lots of blossoms with young pumpkins. I’m not particularly babying them at this point. They seem to be making it and what I get, I get. I had so many pumpkins last year that I dried so many that I’m not really in any need of any (that’s an understatement)!
Here is an overview shot. The only two things I’ve planted this year are corn and pumpkins. As I mentioned before, I wasn’t planning on pumpkins but my friend started some plants for me—how could I refuse?
The pumpkins are starting produce female blossoms like crazy now.
I have quite a few pumpkins this size already. By quite a few - I mean probably 8-10 plus myriads that are much smaller! I will have to be more faithful about watering from here on out. Pumpkins need lots of water to grow!
And that’s my garden update for today! In another three weeks the corn should be tasseling!
Be sure to check out what my sis has for you in the store!
