Strings/crumbs update

This is my weekend strings/crumbs report.

Sadly, I didn't do much over the weekend on this project.

In fact, I ONLY made 6 blocks like this:

That's all. I now have a total of 11 of these blocks. I have sewn the sashing strip in between them so they are all in one strip.

I didn't make any string blocks, or woven star blocks, or anything.

I just couldn't get motivated this weekend to work on these - probably because I spent time doing other things - including spending a good bit of time working on cleaning up part of my sewing room.  Yeah, I still call it my sewing room. It's not really a "studio". LOL  It's okay. I don't actually feel like it's a pejorative term since that is what it is.

This is the plan for this particular crumbs quilt. I'm using 5" crumb blocks (before sewing) - that is I'm making crumb blocks and trimming them to 5" squares - the same size as your typical "charm pack".

This is what it should look like (approximately) when it is finished since the lines aren't showing. Starting next week I hope to be able to make up a second row so I can actually see how it will look.

I did find some more small-ish blue scraps while cleaning up the floor of my sewing room.

My backless chair (just a seat with wheels) that I had been using at the machine where I piece had lost a screw and was getting to be loose when I sat on it.  I took it to my husband and asked him about it - he has what Polish peoiple call "golden hands" - and can fix almost anything.

He's working on cleaning out the threads out of the wheels. I told him I would do that - he didn't need to do it, but he was listening to a baseball game and I think he actually doesn't mind too much. I did find one screw and a bracket or brace that had fallen off - which I didn't know where they came from but I saved them since they "looked important".  :) Glad I did.

But that's all I did - well, that's not all I did. I worked on piecing two other quilts and worked on getting ready a bit for my son and his wife who should arrive here in Poland on Wednesday!

They hope to be here up to 9 months.  We'll see what happens.

And that's all for my strings and crumbs update for the weekend. I'm a little disappointed in myself, but I honestly had no "mojo" for it this weekend  - I forced myself to make those few crumb blocks - but didn't have the energy/excitement to tackle anything more.

And don't forget, if you need something for your own projects, be sure to check out first what my sis has in the store!
